One step at a time.
Steps for Christ is a registered, non-denominational Christian hiking group from Namaqualand. We walk to share the Good News, raise awareness and raise money for young people.
Dear reader,
Every year we walk from town to town. We tell people about Jesus, we talk about the problems our youth face, and we raise money for one cause. Sponsors pay the hikers R50 for every kilometre.
In 2017 we walked through five towns in four days. The money paid for a young man to study at a Bible school in Knysna. In 2018 we took on the Richtersveld: 74 km and five towns in three days. That money paid for our first Bible camp in May 2019, where we took ten boys from every small town in our area to Bushwacked in Vioolsdrift.
In September 2019 we walked again, 69 km through five Namaqua towns in three days. Today the hikes still go on, and the camps have grown into the biggest part of what we do.

Our aim
Good Christian values give our youth a better chance against drugs, crime, teenage pregnancy, dropping out of school and HIV. We want to see problems early and help early. We give our young ones hope, a new sense of purpose, and a place in their community.

The first hike
Five friends, five towns in four days. The money sent a young man to Bible school in Knysna.

From Alexander Bay, through a sandstorm. 28 km in one day from Sanddrift to Khoeboes.

Krygers vir Christus
Our first Bible camp, for boys from every small town in our area. Bushwacked, Vioolsdrift.

Door to door, Namaqua
Six towns from Bulletrap to Concordia, visiting homes door to door.

Kammiesberg
Our longest hike, through the icy Kammiesberg. Then a 7-day camp for 80 boys and girls.

An awareness hike of almost 50 km, the first Winter Games Cup, and a Leadership Camp.

Wilderness camp
The Kingfisher trail in the Southern Cape. The week ended with baptisms at Victoria Bay.
